About Media Club

The Media Club of Columbia is a professional organization located in Columbia, S.C. It serves the Midlands area as a place for those in communication professions to gather and share stories once a month.

The organization was founded on the principles of collegiality and the pursuit of inexpensive relaxation among our fellow media professionals. Our attractions include great food, the cheapest drinks in town, very short business meetings and modest dues. However, the true benefit comes from the quality of the professionals with whom you can informally network.

The organization was founded in the 1970s by Midlands newshounds who wanted to set a time to meet regularly for deep conversations about the principles of journalism while they pursued inexpensive relaxation with their fellow professionals. Since that time, the greatest minds in media have kept up this long-held, casual - yet impactful, interaction with colleagues. Targeted to be of interest to those in the fields of Journalism, Public Relations., Writing, Visual Communications, Social Media, Advertising, and other creative fields (including the arts), our organization is open to active and retired media professionals in the Midlands of S.C.

The club meets every third Thursday, at Richland Legion 6 Downstairs Bar/Lounge on Pickens @ Whaley in Columbia, SC between 5:30-7:30 pm. Drop in and meet us! We warmly welcome prospective members to drop by and visit with us - we gather between 5:30 and 7 or 7:30 p.m. - sometimes a bit later. Any of our board members will be glad to introduce you to our members.
